2023 Ghana Tech & Entrepreneurship Accelerator Bootcamp Scholars Impact Journey

In December 2023, 20 Ghanaian female students were handpicked to participate in Seeds of Fortune Ghana's inaugural Tech and Entrepreneurship Accelerator Bootcamp. Over three intensive days, scholars:


· Received mentorship from industry experts

· Gained access to cutting-edge tech resources

· Developed practical digital skills

· Crafted business plans

· Pitched innovative ideas to a panel of judges

· Explored emerging tech careers at Google Accra


Prior to the bootcamp, scholars completed the Girls Start Up module and developed social enterprise business ideas. We're thrilled to share updates from 16 of our scholars, whose social impact journeys have taken off speaking to the Impressive Results the Bootcamp has Yielded!

Maame Esi Nkrumah Abamfo

  • Education: University of Ghana, Masters Degree (LLM) in Energy Law, Policy and Practice

  • Year of Study: 6th year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Maame has received an acceptance as a Future Africa Scholar. Maame has also given back to her community by utilizing the skills she learned during bootcamp to teach students website development and business pitching skills. Additionally, Maame successfully completed the ALX AiCE course, where she was able to advance technological skills

Josephine Owusuaa Boadu

  • Education: KNUST, BSC Development Planning

  • Year of Study: First Year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Owusuaa earned admissions into BSC Development Planning at KNUST. In addition to her studies, Mary also continues to balance her entrepreneurial endeavors utilizing the financial management skills she gained during bootcamp.

Mary Agyei

  • Education:  Anahlt University of Applied Sciences, International Business

  • Year of Study: First Year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Mary is working on her second bachelors in International Business at Anahlt University and has begun her journey as a writer. As an entrepreneur, Mary has utilized her newly acquired skills to advance her business's product development.

Irene Amenuveve Mensah

  • Education: University of Media Arts and Communications, Journalism/Communications

  • Year of Study: Third Year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Irene has completed a technology training with Women Going Digital and joined as a participant of Aspire Institute's 3-month leadership training. Irene is currently running her own Laundry Detergent business, Ever Shine Detergents, where she prepares and sells a myriad of cleaning supplies.

Jackline Aku Senavor

  • Education: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Business Administration (International Business)

  • Year of Study: Final year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Jackline gained clarity on her vision as an entrepreneur and has gone on to collaborate with start-ups.

Hawa Kwanda

  • Education: Koforidua Technical University, Computer Network Management

  • Year of Study: Second year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Hawa experienced increased confidence and continued to develop her public speaking skills. Hawa also implemented her organizational and time-management skills to improve her academic journey in school.

Alice Pokuaa Adansi

  • Education: KNUST, Doctor of Pharmacy

  • Year of Study: 5th year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Alice became a recipient of the AfroFuture Women Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship. Alice proudly received her White Coat from KNUST's Pharmacy School White Coat Ceremony and advanced her technology skills by completing a digital marketing course.

Florence Appiah

  • Education: The Beauty Plush, Trainee - Hair Installation & Make Up

  • Year of Study: 1.5 years

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Florence partnered with Inspiring Young Achievers Network (IYAN) Africa to teach school dropouts cosmetology skills. Florence continues to empower her clients through her business, FLOSTY Beauty & Hair Care Centre -- a company dedicated to redefining beauty standards, boosting confidence, and providing a unique, empowering experience to all clients.

Joyce Yetsa Amable

  • Education: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, BSC Biomedical Engineering/ Social Media Manager

  • Year of Study: Second Year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Joyce gained acceptance into the Young African Leaders Initiative Center - Regional Leadership Center Cohort. Joyce has also began content creation on her digital platform

Wilhelmina Ogerh Opesika Lawerh-Lawerh

  • Education: Bryn Mawr College, Neuroscience

  • Year of Study: First Year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Wihelmina earned a full-tuition scholarship to Bryn Mawr College and has now safely relocated to the USA. She utilized the budgeting skills she learned by applying them to her personal finances and academic growth. Wilhelmina's Girls Start Up Social project for young girls and STEM Advocacy has also been in development in her local community, Ashaiman.

Sandra Kwartemaa Barne

  • Education: KNUST, Industrial Engineering

  • Year of Study: Fourth Year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Sandra has been able to apply the skills she learned by assisting her colleagues in generating a website and teaching them financial management for their small businesses.

Hillary Anyomi

  • Education: Ashesi University, Business Administration

  • Year of Study: Third Year

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Hillary gained access to opportunities in advocacy and policy after the bootcamp. She joined the Global Politics Affairs as a Policy fellow and is currently completing her capstone projects. Hillary also got accepted into the Climate Research and Advocacy Program by Youth Climate Connect. Currently, Hillary contributes to work surrounding menstrual health as a Grant Writer for Chuchu Softies.

Atim Lawrencia Amankwaba

  • Education: Ghana Senior High School, General Science

  • Level/Year of Study: SHS 2 (Year 3)

  • Achievements: Six months post-program, Atim I was selected as one of 36 students ]nationwide to assist the Ghana Education Service with the development of a Handbook on National Values. Atim has been able to apply the certificate and computer skills she gained to development of this Handbook, which is intended for use across all Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS).

Gloria Asante

  • Education: St. Johns University, Nursing Major w/ a minor in Fine Arts

  • Level/Year of Study: First Year

  • Achievements: Six months after the program, Gloria has discovered her true passions for helping women and created a platform (@ahavasistercollective ) to raise awareness on menstrual poverty, by way of hosting product distributions and workshops for young girls in schools.

Nora Narkie Narh

Education: Ghana Senior High School, General Science

  • Level/Year of Study: Second Year

  • Achievements: Six months after the program, Nora was also selected as one of 36 participants nationwide to assist Ghana education service with development of their Handbook on National Values. Nora has also been able to strengthen and apply her newly developed public speaking skills.

Fatima Mohammed

  • School/Work: University of Media Arts and Communications

  • Education: Accra Technical University, Cyber Security

  • Level/Year of Study: Second Year

  • Achievements: Six months after the program, Fatima expressed significant improvements within her personal development. The encouragement she received allowed her to create vision boards for herself, implement time management skills and even create her first ever LinkedIn profile.
