The Department of Economics at Yale and Yale School of Management partnered to support Seeds of Fortune Inc. 3rd Annual partnership with Yale Women in Economics summer capstone residency program. Students participate in a 10-month support program in college admission and financing while also creating capstone projects in key economics topics of Recessions and Depressions to Price Systems.
Scholars economic capstone projects were supported by the Yale Economics department and Yale School of Management Professors: Professor Rebecca Toseland, Professor Ilse Lindenlaub, Professor Evangelia Chalioti, and Professor Aniko Oery. The students were mentored by Yale Economics Undergraduate students: Anya Bibbs, Emma Lazo, Eva Kottou, Jasmine Jones, and Lauren S. Kim to assist with completing their capstone projects.
Scholars had the opportunity during their Yale residency to take a day trip to Boston to learn about careers is Asset Management sponsored by Fidelity Boundless. Boundless is a career discovery program for female high school and undergraduate students. Through events, education, digital and social engagement, students are able to identify their strengths, discover their passions and purpose. Scholars spent the day at Fidelity headquarters in Boston interacting with Fidelity early career employees via a panel regarding Asset Management, participated in a lunch and learn experience, as well as a passion discovery activity.
Natixis a leading global financial institution that provides advisory, investment banking, financing, corporate banking and capital markets services to corporations, financial institutions, sponsors and more. Natixis Boston Headquarters hosted a networking dinner for the Seed Scholars to engage with their employees in a mentorship question and answer session to learn more about careers in Asset Management.
Seeds of Fortune Inc. Economic Capstone presentations were hosted at the Yale School of Management. Scholars were able to participate in a graduate admission information session as well as tour of the School of Management building. The presentations keynote speakers were Eleri Phillips - Yale Women in Economics Co-President and La-Toya Niles - Senior Advisor to the First Deputy Commissioner of the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).
The Capstone presentations were judged by Yna Owus - 2022 Seeds of Fortune Inc. in partnership with Yale Women in Economics Scholar and Yale Undergraduate Class of 2027, Emmanuel Omokaro - Community Impact Manager at Spectrum, Adebukola Ajao - Founder and Digital Marketing Consultant Founder and Digital Marketing Consultant BDY CONSULT, and La-Toya Niles.
YaleWomen Alumni Association prepared the students post presentation for college admissions interviews this included: Alexandra Cook, Jessica Ocegueda Depardieu, Karen DuBois-Walton, Grace Kim, Stefanie Nicholas, and Suzanne Solensky. After the interview they sponsored a networking lunch for student participants.
